There’s nothing like the joy of making a special breakfast for those you love. Many times we think of Valentines Day with the best intentions and imagine the delicious Valentine’s Day breakfast that we will make (or receive) only to find that it’s tomorrow and you have no idea what to cook.
Not to fret. There are many easy breakfast recipes on the internet and I’ve shared a few below that you can whip up once you have some basic ingredients. You can even make a Valentine’s Day dessert with these simple ingredients.
The key to surprise your family, friends, or loved ones is in the presentation. What do you have access to?
Flowers? Instead of stacked pancakes, how about a pancake platter scattered with creamy yogurt, honey, and fresh flowers?
Maybe some nuts you can chop and roast really quickly for some great presentation?
How about using leftover frozen fruits for the pancakes or to make a berry compote?
There are so many options so let’s explore these 2 last minute Valentines breakfast ideas. (Hint- they are different variations of smoothies and pancakes).
Remember that if you don’t have these simple ingredients on hand, you can get them in less than 2 days with Amazon Prime.

Or Make Regular Pancakes
Don’t have the ingredients for dutch baby pancakes? If you have the ingredients to make regular pancakes or a boxed pancake mix, you can whip up a quick Valentines Day breakfast by adding some chocolate chips, cocoa powder, coconut flakes or frozen berries.
Drizzle the warm pancakes with pancake syrup or honey or yogurt, and sprinkle with whatever ingredients you used (or have). Sliced bananas, berry compotes, even a 2 ingredient DIY caramel syrup would work perfectly. The key here is to be creative.
The flowers really make any breakfast or dessert look beautiful and romantic. It doesn’t have to fresh flowers either, you can use edible dried rose petals for a beautiful aroma.
Smoothies With a Twist
Aren’t smoothies just the best? There are endless smoothie recipes to try and if you want a breakfast idea that’s not pancakes, this is an option that’s even easier to make and present.
I like to have fun with smoothies and you can too. If you have the time and you can get pineapple in your supermarket, simply cut it in half and use a small knife or spoon to remove the inside of the pineapple. Leave about a one-centimeter border so that the husk is firm enough to hold the smoothie.
The beauty of this is that it doesn’t have to be perfect!
My knife went straight through the smoothie skin a couple of times and it didn’t leak when I poured the smoothie in. (just try not to make any large holes). The inside of the pineapple doesn’t have to perfect either because all you will see is the smoothie. How’s that for a tropical breakfast?
You can garnish the smoothie with coconut flakes, sliced bananas, nuts, granola, berries, or anything else you have. I created a list of low carb smoothie toppings over here so you can get some ideas.
Best Smoothie Recipes For Valentines Day
The best smoothies to use for breakfast are thick and filling. For this specific bowl, I decided to use a pineapple and beetroot smoothie for the color, thickness, and of course to use the meat from the pineapple. The best thing is that no additional sugar was used and this smoothie will be sweet enough, trust me!
Smoothie Ingredients for Pineapple Smoothie Bowl
- 1 large beetroot (shredded so it will blend smoothly and not be gritty)
- 1 large frozen banana
- 1 cup plain unsweetened Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup liquid (?use water, nut milk, or regular milk)
- the inside of the pineapple that you removed
These are the ingredients that I used, and if you want the smoothie to be less thick, just add more water. You can play around with it.
Smoothie Recipes to Try
- Low Carb Smoothies that Taste Like Ice cream
- Strawberry Cream Smoothie
- Chocolate Mocha Smoothie
- Banana Coconut Smoothie
Other Smoothie Bowls
No pineapple where you live? (or no desire to cut it?) Don’t worry. If you have enough time, you can get a coconut bowl on Amazon, and top your coconut smoothie bowl with some coconut flakes, fruits, and granola for a tropical breakfast in bed.
