Pumpkin Spice Smoothie Recipe With Pumpkin Puree

How To Make a Pumpkin Smoothie

The base of this healthy pumpkin pie smoothie recipe is a pumpkin puree and a delicious blend of pumpkin pie spices.  It’s a delicious smoothie to celebrate fall while being healthy at the same time.

This isn’t one of the throw-everything-in-the-blender smoothie recipes that you’re used to. It can be, if you have all the right ingredients.

If you don’t, it could take a total of 20 minutes to prepare the pumpkin for the smoothie. But why go to Starbucks when all you need is an extra 10 minutes to make this natural homemade pumpkin puree?

For this healthy pumpkin protein smoothie, I recommend using a vanilla protein powder instead of pumpkin spice protein powder. This way, you can control the amount of pumpkin flavor that’s in the recipe.

How To Make The Pumpkin Puree

  1. Get one cup of pumpkin (cored, peeled, and cut into 1 inch cubes)
  2. Cook in a steamer for 10 minutes or until soft
  3. Blend the pumpkin until smooth or add the pieces directly to the smoothie

Once you have your pumpkin puree ready, you can move to the other ingredients.

The pumpkin spice blend is one of the ingredients that you can make or get it in a supermarket or online.

Pumpkin Pie Spice Blend

To make a pumpkin pie spice blend, you’ll need the following ingredients:

Mix all of these together and store it in an airtight container.

Pumpkin Protein Smoothie Ingredients

The other ingredients for this smoothie are unsweetened almond milk, vanilla protein powder, & vanilla. I don’t like mine super sweet but you could easily add some stevia for a low carb pumpkin smoothie. Powdered erythritol can also be used for low carb or keto. The vanilla protein powder has enough sweetness for me but you might want more.
